I get, in a heterosexual progressive sort of way, why gay rights are imperative.  Was the recent legal brief filed in defense of DOMA offensive and hateful?  Yes.  Does someone have some ’splaining to do? Yes.  Am I worried that Obama will do nothing on gay rights.  No.
