I picked the wrong time to commit to fitness

If you’ve ever seen Airplane! you may remember Lloyd Bridges’ tower chief character going through a series of lines lamenting his decision to give up smoking, drinking, etc… during an emergency landing.  That’s how I’ve felt during the healthcare reform debate unfolding and refolding and reunfolding.  Maybe Monday I can commit to fitness and healthy eating.  Or maybe after Easter.  Or maybe I should just buy larger pants.

Fired Up About Health Care Reform

Some random commenter somewhere today wrote, “I may die of frustration if this bill doesn’t pass.’  I hear that.  I don’t want to die so I’ve been calling.  If you have five minutes and health care reform matters to you, please call.  Your representatives and senators need to know they have your support on this because it’s nice to be supportive and they’re sort of skittish right now.  Only time for one call?  Call your representative first–that’s where the action is right now.  Tell them you support reform and ask them to pass the senate bill.  If you do call your senators, tell them you support reform and ask them to pass the budget fixes through reconciliation.

Get fired up here.

Liz Cheney doesn’t have a lot of faith in American institutions.  Her organization’s most recent attempt to slime justice department lawyers who sought to do their job in the face of her father’s ideology and the administration’s obstruction are beyond the pale.   And someone should tell her so instead of kissing her ring.  Former solicitor general under Bush and Cheney Ted Olsen had this to say about Guantanamo lawyers three years ago.  It’s worth noting this man lost his wife on September 11, 2001.

… and we have to work for what we want.  If you want health care reform to pass, call your rep and your senators and tell them so.
